Verified Patient Outcomes at California Behavioral Health

Transparency in Treatment: Why We Measure Our Results

At California Behavioral Health, we believe that trust is earned through transparency. In an industry where “success” is often defined vaguely, we have taken the step to independently validate our treatment efficacy. We partnered with Vista Research Group, a leading third-party behavioral health data firm, to track our alumni for one year post-treatment.
This study was not conducted internally. It is an objective, longitudinal analysis of patients discharged between 2020 and 2024. The results serve as verified proof that our evidence-based, non-12-step approach empowers individuals to reclaim their lives.

Highlights From The Study

– 81% reported their overall mental health as “Excellent” or “Good” (up from 12% at intake).

– 44% of alumni remained completely abstinent from all drugs and alcohol one year after discharge – nearly double the national norm.

– 93% secured stable housing one year post-treatment at our facility.

– 53% Reduction in expensive emergency room visits compared to the year prior to treatment.

Graph showing the percent of individuals reporting a good or excellent mood increased from 12% before treatment to 81% after treatment.

Long-Term Abstinence Rates

Recovery is a marathon, not a sprint. While many programs track patients only while they are on-site, the Vista Research study followed patients for 12 months to measure true, lasting sobriety.

Outperforming the National Norm

According to the independent analysis by Vista Research, California Behavioral Health alumni consistently outperform national averages for abstinence at the 1, 6, and 12-month marks.

Graph showing and independent study found that patients leaving CBH were consistently more likely to remain abstinent than the national average.

Proven Treatment Backed by Real Outcomes

Healing the Whole Person - What Makes Us Different at California Behavioral Health

Substance use is often a symptom of underlying mental health struggles. Our luxury dual-diagnosis program addresses the root causes of Depression, Anxiety, and Trauma simultaneously. The 2024 study validates that our integrated clinical model drastically reduces the severity of these co-occurring disorders.

Reduction in Depression and Anxiety

Upon intake, the majority of our patients report moderate to severe symptoms of depression and anxiety. By the time of discharge, and continuing one year later, these symptoms are dramatically reduced.

  • Depression: Severe symptoms dropped from 68% at intake to less than 20% post-treatment.
  • Anxiety: We observed a similar reduction in severe anxiety, validating our holistic therapy modalities including CBT, DBT, and mindfulness.

Rebuilding Families and Futures

Recovery extends beyond the individual to the family unit.

  • Family Relationships: Prior to treatment, only 41% of patients reported good relationships with family. One year later, 82% reported “Good” or “Excellent” relationships.
  • Functioning: 93% of alumni reported living in stable housing one year post-discharge.
Graph that shows addiction treatment at California Health showed a large increase in the percentage of patients that reported a good or excellent relationship with their family.
